Diamond 'Dogs stumble against Aztecs in 3-1 loss

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team dropped its second straight game to San Diego State, 3-1, at Tony Gwynn Stadium on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

San Diego State opened game two of the series with an RBI single in the top of the first.

Starting pitcher Noah Beal retired nine batters in a row over three scoreless innings before a two-run homer extended the Aztec lead to three in the fifth.

Fresno State got on the board in the fifth after Tommy Hopfe singled through the right side and then was driven in by a Grady Morgan RBI single to left field.

The Bulldogs held the Aztecs to three runs and were not able to rally, falling 3-1.

NOTES

Grady Morgan went two for four on the night and drove in the Bulldogs' only run on the night.

Noah Beal pitched 6.0 innings with four strikeouts and only one walk.

Aidan Cremarosa spent two scoreless innings on the mound, striking out a batter and only allowing one hit.

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs will conclude the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
